I’m absolutely thrilled to be speaking at WordCamp San Diego for the second year in a row! I’ve been to a good handful of WordCamps in the past, but this one is near and dear to my heart for very obvious reasons, and I’m honored to be a part of it.
My talk is called “Dude, Speed Up That Website!” and it’s all about easy performance enhancements anyone can employ that will make your WordPress-powered website load more quickly for your visitors.
Performance optimization carries with it a lot of technical jargon that sounds scary. Things like caching, minification, and compression can get really complex, and for the longest time I was intimidated by these items myself.
I’ve spent a lot of time learning about these things the hard way, out of both necessity and curiosity. But the single biggest takeaway I’ve had was that you don’t have to be an expert in these areas to make your website faster. Hell, you don’t even need to fully understand them.
For the past two years I’ve been honing a system I employ on all of the websites I build to ensure that they load as quickly as possible. My talk is going to cover this unique process, and show you how you can easily speed up your own website with a few simple steps.
And I’m going to let you in on a little secret here: it’s actually pretty quick and easy! Little-to-no coding will be required.
If you’re interested in learning more, come see me speak on Sunday at 2:00pm in the Admin Track, which will be held in Gallery 17. (Full Sunday schedule here.)
